Help, Hope

A help wanted sign on a window

You may have noticed that I have not been as consistent lately. And, truthfully, I apologize for that. Life can become interrupted so often, and if we're not careful, we quickly begin to let our responsibilities suffer as a result.

Sometimes those are reasonable interruptions, other times not as much. For me I feel it's a mix of both at this moment.

I've talked about interruptions before on this site, they're a reality for us all.

The Psalmists understood this well, as so many of their writings reflect periods of distress and waiting.

"Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait on the LORD." - Psalm 27:14

But what is the consistent theme through them all? And what is the reminder that we all need from time to time?

"How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God," - Psalm 146:5

I believe I've written about that verse recently, and I'll admit, it's one I go to frequently. I need the reminder.

God is our (only) help and hope. And in times of difficulty, that need is magnified. That, I suspect, is part of why He brings them into our lives.

So, I don't know if you're in one of those times or not, but may this be a reminder that your help and your hope should be in God. And it ought to be that way for me as well.
