Re-Motivate

There's always a concern in writing a blog that one can get too personal, and in fact sound a bit on the whiny side. I really hope that that hasn't been the case for me recently, nor with this post. I hope instead that it just comes across as real and relatable. We all deal with ups and downs, pit stops and road blocks, and in some small way, the hope is that you'll find some encouragement and a Christ-ward focus through these.

The truth is, coming off of the recent travel extravaganza, I've lost a little bit of momentum. I don't need to delve into all the reasons why, just to note that I've slowed down a little bit.

But it should be immediately evident to anyone, that this is normal of the human condition. Perhaps that's why there are so many admonitions in Scripture to carry on, to not give up, to not fear, to be courageous, etc.

I mean Elijah gave up after his highest victory. But God in His mercy gave him work to do and a helper. He does have ways of helping us.

And so I just want to share a verse with you, one that I myself need to re-read a few million times:

"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord." - 1 Corinthians 15:58

So I may have lost some motivation, and I may not always know what to write in these blogs, or what I should even be doing; you may be dealing with very similar things at the moment. But we can ask a few questions of the text here.

Firstly, why 'therefore'? Paul just explained the gospel and its results in this chapter, ending with the very real victory that Jesus has had over death.

Death is defeated, we have a future hope, and Jesus is reigning. Therefore, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord. We know that our toil is not in vain.

We can be those things because we serve a victorious, risen Savior-King. And we know that our work in Him is not in vain but of eternal value.

I'm sure I could dig much deeper into it, but I'll go ahead and close this out.

I don't know what effect these blogs have, but I do believe that God can use them for His glory. You may not know what effect you are having right now in this life. Are you living it for Him? Are you trying to follow His will? Know that your labor is not in vain, and keep going. We have a King and He's got our back.
