Peru Mission Trip: Some Highlights from the Day

Updated: Oct 15

Me visiting with a local family in a village in Lima, Peru.

Well, our first night in Peru has come to an end and I just wanted to share a few thoughts from the day.

I could go through the events of the day, but I'll skip that for now other than a 30,000 foot view. Devotional in the morning, off to visit some families, and finally help with working with kids at a refuge.

It's of course very interesting dealing with a language barrier. Several months of Duolingo really just evaporates when it comes to actually having to use what you've learned.

But thankfully, God is able to break through barriers, and between my very very basic understanding of a few Spanish words, and the wonderful translators, we were able to make it work.

The highlights of my day was visiting with two families, along with another from our group and a translator and some kids. We got to share the gospel with these families, and pray and discuss some things.

The other highlight was when everything finally wound down and I was able to have an impromptu but encouraging conversation with a couple of my team members on the roof of our hotel about various things we deal with in the Christian life.

But as the day came to a close I realized that I have some emotions going on. Can't say I can quantify or elaborate, but the last few weeks have been a Spiritual... I'm not even sure the word. But I'm thankful for what God has been doing, and I look forward to what He will do this week.
