The Blessing of Hope in God

Our world can be a frightful place. If it's not a virus, it's artificial intelligence, or perhaps some kind of unrest, political division, maybe just trying to make ends meet.
Being afraid is a pretty common thing.
But I'm forced to remember a Bible verse that I've read a few times as of late.
"How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD His God," - Psalm 146:5
Why have I read it multiple times lately? Because I, too, find myself in fear. The reminder is something we need.
And David not only points out that those who hope in God are blessed, but he gives us reason to hope in this God.
God is a God who has made all things, is faithful, is just and cares for the oppressed, who feeds the hungry and frees the prisoner, who opens the eyes of the blind, who raises up those who are down, who loves the righteous (i.e. those who possess the righteousness of Christ); He protects the stranger, supports the widow and orphan, and thwarts the way of the wicked. Finally, He is a God who reigns forever.
Those are all very good reasons to hope in this God. And while it is easy to forget this often, may we be reminded today that we are blessed when we hope in God.
