Stellar Astronomy, an Article from Dr. Jason Lisle

While a bit heady, this is a really fascinating article discussing the history behind stellar astronomy (a branch of astronomy dealing with stars and suns).
It's amazing to think that our current understanding of stars has really only been fully accepted for a few hundred years, that is the heliocentric view (that the universe does not revolve around the earth), as opposed to the geocentric (that everything revolves around the earth).
Why's all this important? I believe firstly it points to the grand Designer of all things; the immensity of this universe is almost as if He just showed off. And so, I believe that as we study these things we get a glimpse into God's creativity and power. It points more and more to who He is.
It's also important that we recognize that truth and science are not at odds with Scripture, rather that they undergird and support Scripture. The ideas of old ages of the universe are not intrinsic to what we see in nature, but a presupposition that is brought to the table, a lens in which many view science, not vice versa.
So I hope you'll find this article by Dr. Jason Lisle to be an interesting primer on astronomy.
