Seedtime and Harvest

I've written about Spring the last couple of blogs. It's actually one of my favorite times of year. I love the foliage, the green as it first comes out in all of its vibrance. Flowers as they bloom. Fields sprinkled with varying colors. The birds singing, warmer weather, sunny skies as well as many rainy days.
The seasons do come and go, and its pretty interesting to think about how consistent it really is. Birds migrate, animals give birth in the spring, the flowers know when to come out. The cycle continues, with very slight differences over the eons.
One of todays biggest "fears" (so-called) is that of climate change. You can probably guess by my comment thus far my thoughts on it, but I encourage you to read on.
As Christians, we invariably will have varying views on topics such as climate change, but we all ought to have the same initial foundation: Scripture.
And God was very clear with Noah, and by extension, us:
"While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease." - Genesis 8:22
In other words, seasons are not going to change. And as we read the Bible we realize another thing: God will end this world when HE so chooses.
So, is climate change real? This blog is not here to debate that are even dive into it. But it is here to simply state that regardless of the reality or lack-thereof of climate change, Christians need not fear it, God is not going to be thwarted. Be responsible? Absolutely, stewardship of this world is another topic for another day. But fear that somehow God has lost control, and this world is going to end before He has determined? No, there's no place for that.
So look at the flowers, think of the sovereign God who clothes the fields with such incredible beauty, and trust Him to uphold this world for His purpose.
"...and upholds all things by the word of His power..." - Hebrews 1:3b
