Seasons

A lot of folks are getting geared up and ready for fall. It's coming very soon in fact. I will say that it's one of my favorite times to photograph. Where I live, its probably one of the easiest, as fall color near the mid-Atlantic can be quite prolific.
Honestly, this will probably be one of multiple posts dealing with autumn. But for now I just want to focus on the very fact that it is a season change. Summer is winding down, the temps are cooling, the leaves are turning their various shades of gold and red. Soon it will be winter, whether we like it or not.
I know for me, season changes can be hard. You get used to the way things are and feel, then without anyone asking you permission, the season changes.
The obvious connection, is that life is very much like this.
But for this short post I'm going to focus on something else; I want to focus on the one who does not change.
"For I, the LORD, do not change; therefore you, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed." - Malachi 3:6
I won't lie, or go into details, but this past season of life has featured a lot of personal changes, some good, some not so good. But in it all, there is certainly a comfort that I have a God who has not changed, nor changed His purpose or plans for my life. Philippians 1:6 is still a wonderful promise I hold to.
"For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus."
Maybe this is an idea we can explore in more depth, at the moment I'm not sure. But I'll close with this: in light of all that fades and changes in this world, may we glory in and look to the one who does not.
"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." - Hebrews 13:8
